NASCAR Driver Files for Divorce

Nascar

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, Paul Hospenthal, documents obtained by ESPN suggest. The Huffington Post reported a story on this divorce case.

The 30-year-old NASCAR driver wrote on her divorce documents that her marriage is ”irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.” The documents were filed in Arizona on January 3.

Patricks plans of parting ways with her husband, a physical therapist, were first made public on Facebook in last November.

A statement from Patrick was released, saying the following: "I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isnt easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and thats how we will remain moving forward."

The couples divorce documents show that they have a prenuptial agreement and neither side is asking for alimony.

Patrick is worth a reported $18 million, so a prenuptial agreement was a good idea from her point of view.

The couple, who have an age difference of 17 years, met in 2002 when Hospenthal was treating Patrick for a hip injury, married in 2005, and they have no children.
