Recently posted online by both Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa was the cancellation of their divorce.
Vanessa first posted the good news on Instagram, and it was quickly followed by Kobe confirming the news on Facebook, only an hour before the Lakers were to host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“I am happy to say that Vanessa and I are moving on with our lives together as a family. When the show ends and the music stops, the journey is made beautiful by having that someone to share it with. Thank you all for your support and prayers!” wrote Bryant.
Vanessa and Kobe were married in April 2001, surviving a sexual assault accusation against Kobe, together. In December 2011, Vanessa filed for divorce from the five-time NBA Champion guard. Together, the couple has two daughters, Natalia and Gianna.
Although the couple had been going through a divorce in the past year, Vanessa and their daughters have attended many Lakers home games and have waited for Kobe to exit the locker room, leaving the Staples Center together.
On Instagram, Vanessa wrote, “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We are looking forward to our future together.”
Vanessa has stood by her husband for 10 years, even when he was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in Colorado in 2003. She said he was only guilty of “the mistake of adultery.” A year later, however, the charges were dropped because the woman did not want to continue with the trial.
Kobe Bryant is the leading NBA scorer this season, along with the fifth-leading scorer in NBA history in his 17th season with the Lakers. He is also likely to play in his 15th NBA All-Star game this year in Houston.
Bryant met his wife in 1999 at a music video shoot, when Vanessa was 18-years-old. Six months later, the couple was engaged.
